The Wounded Mother Heals features the work of activist and artist Dorothy Hawkins Gray, whose practice challenges the existing narrative surrounding gun violence and the American cultural phenomenon. Our signature representation embodies the passion and pain of mothers who have endured the tragic loss of their children, symbolizing the healing journey and collective power of survivors of homicide. These exhibitions are not only a display of remarkable artworks but a platform for dialogue and awareness, fostering community resilience and promoting healing through the arts.
The Wounded Mother Heals is an installation addressing the psychological harm inflicted on the community after each tragic death and the social responsibility of those of us who are the collateral damage of homicide to stimulate the nation’s healing. This exhibit and subsequent programming was made possible by the support of the late Irving Levere and donations.
